Feeding Suri

Suri Jean is by no means malnourished. This roly poly child has gained 1.5 pounds in less than one month and is tipping the scales at 16.4 lbs. She has become very fond of her baby food, especially peaches, sweet potatoes, and pears. Her appetite has not slowed a bit even with this little cold.

Winter.....is it over yet?

I am so ready for some warmer weather. Don't think I am wishing time to go by , wait, yes I am. I am ready for sunshine and fresh air. I am also ready for cold and flu season to be over. We have been so lucky to avoid the flu bug this year so far (knock on wood), however a mean cold has invaded our house. This week, Suri Jean and Josh have been hit. Suri was put on breathing treatments. She mostly just wants to eat the mask. Josh just needs some rest. I .......need a vacation. ASAP!

Lesson learned

I will start by first saying that my Sophs is as sweet as pie however can be a bit of a stink when she wants. That being said, Mulan is taking a little break from our house due to "grumpy hands" at school. I will elaborate more once the dust settles.

Funny story from the Sunday afternoon Colts game:

We were invited to a friend's house to watch the Colts game. There were lots of kiddos and they spent most of the time playing in the back bedrooms. During an intense part of the game Josh yells out "that is just stupid!" (know that there were other not so nice words spoken from some of the other men). Anyhow, after Josh let the "stupid" word slip we heard a little voice yell "we don't say that word". That's my Sophs, keeping daddy in line.

Today's Dilemma

Okay, here is the situation: You are driving to work and you are on a country road with very few houses around. The roads become so slick that you have to pull over and wait it out, otherwise you risk wrecking your car. While waiting your body tells you that it is time to go to the bathroom (and I'm not talking about #1 here people), unfortunately you are not close enough to work to just walk. so, what do you do?

do you:

A) hold it and just suffer
B)walk 1 mile in the ice to the nearest house and ask to use a stranger's bathroom
or
C)grab some baby wipes and let loose behind a couple of hay bails

I will not say which I chose, but I will say that I officially own a little part of Mulberry,IN now. Sorry Mr. Farmer Man. May that little patch of field produce a great harvest next year.

Diva Sophs

As mentioned in prior posts, Mulan has really taken over our house. Sophia no longer goes by the name Sophia but rather "Mulan" or "Shang". I actually find myself singing "I'll make a man out of YOU" while I am driving. I finally caught Sophs, I mean Mulan, in the act of singing along to her movie. Enjoy world. Disregard attempted nose pick. She gets that from Josh. Until next time....

Denny

We are so blessed to have a happy and healthy family. Josh and I couldn't ask for anything more in our life. The girls have grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, cousins, and even great grandparents who love them dearly. We are truly truly blessed.

My dad passed away almost ten years ago. He was a wonderful man who loved his family and lived his life to "make memories". He was fun. He always knew how to make light of an uncomfortable situation. His go-to saying was "Are we having fun yet?" He always had an open mind and would help anyone. I still think about him everyday and wonder what he would think of how my life has turned out. And boy....He would have loved these girls.

Friday Nights

Friday nights in the "S" house are wild. Wild I tell you! We have a tradition of getting snacks and snuggling in ready for a movie and a slumber party. This is Sophia's very favorite night of the week because she gets to pick the movie. Guess what we watched last night. MULAN. Again....3 months and going strong. Suri isn't real sure what to think of our Friday night tradition. I think I did hear her say she was tired of watching Mulan. Until next time...

You Go..........

This evening all four of us went to a 7th grade boys basketball game basically so Josh could show face and support some of his students. As you know, 3 year olds can be very unpredictable in what they may say. Ours in particular is not shy a bit and I always have to be prepared to say "I'm so sorry". Well, little miss Sophie was watching the cheerleaders tonight and enjoying herself thoroughly. Josh and I have been trying to gently nudge Sophs in the basketball direction rather than cheerleading. Oh heck, we have been forcefully pushing her far far away from the cheerleading world. No offense people, but Josh and I know basketball....just basketball. Oh yeah, back to the game. Anyhow, the cheerleaders finished a cheer and were standing with both hands up in that awkward "do I wait for applause before I move moment" and the gym was very quiet. Out of no where someones out-of-control child yells "YOU GO CHEERLEADER!" (in the tone of "you go girl!" from the show Martin)...I looked over and YEP it was Sophia standing up with her little index finger pointed at the cheerleaders. You Go Girl! You Go...... Play Basketball.

Soup and Rice

Sophia learned this poem at school and is so proud of herself for being able to remember it. I love those big brown eyes! Until next time....

Preschool learning

I have to share a little story that a friend of ours told us yesterday about their grandson. Their grandson is 4 years old and was at preschool. Somehow a little girl in his class managed to get herself completely undressed in the bathroom and went back into the class naked. Upon pick-up from school the little boy couldn't stop talking about this incident. Once in their car, mom wanted to talk it out and asked her son "Okay, what are you worried about?". The little boy said "mommy, her butt was ugly and she didn't have anywhere to pee from".

....for women.....

I woke up this morning and headed out to the family room where I saw Josh inspecting the wrapper of a Luna for Women breakfast bar. He had already eaten it and was studying this package with a look of concern. I asked if it was any good and he said "yes, but it is for women".. I told him it was no big deal. He continued to show concern for a good 5 minutes. I finally had to tell him "Josh, don't worry you aren't going to grow boobs or anything". He finally relaxed. That is until I told him he just made today's blog post.

4 month well-baby appointment

Suri Jean our "string bean" isn't so stringy anymore. Matter of fact she is a BIG GIRL! Her 4 month appointment went great. She is growing very well and the doctor gave us the go ahead to start feeding her baby food. I straight up lied and said we had only been giving her cereal. Truth is, she has already had sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, peas, bananas, and prunes. The girl was hungry. Anyhow, here are her statistics from today's appointment:

Height: 26 inches

Weight: 15 pounds

Head: Extra super huge! She was actually near the 100th percentile for head circumference. Holy Cow Thomson family. It is all the super huge brains, I am sure, right?

Suri made it through her shots, but I am pretty sure she would have cussed at me if she were able to talk. The look on her face said this "I'm giggling, things are good, mommy is smiling at me, WAIT.........what the hell.......AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Probably something like that. She forgave me, and gave me sweet smiles a few minutes later, but she was not a happy camper.

Until next time........

Exercise......post pregnancy...part II

Okay, the treadmill is in the house (Sunday) and I have run before work for two days (Monday and Tuesday). I need to run 3 more days this week. Along with that, I am also attending exercise class. Yeah, that's right people, I am hard core! Truth? I have no choice. I have to get into a bathing suit in March. And....if I don't lose this baby weight, it ain't gonna be pretty! So, here's to meeting my goals for 2 days. woot woot!

Until next time....

Thank you Mulan

So, I was innocently leaning over the bed dressing Suri, when out of no where I get a HUGE karate chop to the back. I whipped around in surprise ready to kung fu kick Josh in the flank and I see a little blondie dressed like Mulan. The only words to come out of her mouth were "I beat the Huns".....What the heck? She quickly spun around and ran back up to her room. I, being a bit historically challenged, yelled for Josh to come in and explain to me what a "Hun" is. Apparently, from my interpretation, they were no good and were mean to Mulan. Once again, Thank you Disney. My back is broken.

2010

Well, we wrapped up yet another year. Goodbye 2009 and hello 2010. Our family is very much looking forward to this year. We have committed ourselves to making sure this year is MUCH better than last. On our agenda thus far for 2010 are 2 vacations, yep that's right, I said 2. Our first vacation will be in March when we will head to DISNEY WORLD! We should own stock in Disney. Lord knows we put enough of our money into vacations and products. Our second vacation will be at the beach house in Hilton Head, SC.

I don't want to say I have made a "resolution" for this year however I am going to make a good effort to just simplify my life. You know, get rid of any unnecessary items/clutter. I want to create a system of cleaning and organizing my house so that I do not want to rip my hair out every time I walk into my front door. Secondly, and a bit cliche, I have GOT to get myself healthy and fit again. Despite having minimal time to get to the gym I have to adapt and find a way to exercise at home as well. And third, I want to do as much FUN stuff with our family as possible. Such as zoo trips, museum trips, baking, crafts, ballgames, just little outings. I think it is so easy to just get stuck in the same "easy" routine of coming home from work and putting cartoons on to entertain your kiddos so that you/I can cook and clean.

So there you have it....Bring it on 2010. I'm so gonna kick your butt!

Until next time.....
