Thanksgiving 2010

We celebrated Thanksgiving in Madison this year with my family. What a busy 4 days! We ate one meal at grandma Holts then turned right around that same day and had a second meal at my mom and Dale's house. We also managed to squeeze in one of our extended family Christmas parties.

We had a great time. Sophia was in heaven playing with all of her cousins and Suri had a ton of fun exploring and climbing (that's right, I've got a climber. Yikes!)

Thanksgiving Faux Pas

Your invited to a Thanksgiving Celebration Feast at a family members home. Their house is fairly new and you haven't been there. You spent some time at home making a dish to bring. You get in your car (with another family member) and drive to the feast. You let yourself into the host's house and head toward the kitchen to put your dish on the buffet line zig zagging through the crowd of people. Once you set your dish on the counter you turn around to realize that you don't recognize a soul there. What do you do?

A. Quietly pick up your dish and head out of the house.

B. Announce "well, I don't know any of you all"

C. Act like you belong there and offer up the prayer

Well, this didn't happen to me but it did happen to a guest at our Thanksgiving. she chose B. They did finally find the right location, and lived happily ever after..... Definitely a great story for dinner.

Christmas spoiler

You see this..........




Well, we received our first online Christmas purchase yesterday and Josh quickly stashed it out of reach and out of sight of a certain 4 year old.

As you can see, only a tiny bit of the letter "D" was showing.

Sophs spotted that box within 2 minutes of walking in the house. She said "hey, what's in that Disney box? I think it's for me".

I lied because.......well, what else are you supposed to do when it comes to Santa. I said "oh Sophs, that box is old. It has been there forever".

Sophia: "no mommy, it has tape on it still. It's new and it's for me".

Me: "hey Sophs, want some candy?"

That was all I had.... Sophs, boy does she keep me on my toes. I can't get anything by her.

More phonics with Sophs

This year Sophia has been really buckling down on her letters, both writing and sounding them out. I like to practice her "sounds" in the car when we are heading over to DiDi's to pick Suri up. Tuesday phonics were special. Here is the condensed version:

Me: "M says mmm mmm ................."

Sophia: "Mommy"

Me: "N say nnnn nnn........."

Sophia: "No"

Me: "O says ooo ooo......"

Sophia: "orange"

Me: "P says ppp ppp....."

Sophia: "pa pa poker face"

Lady Gaga will NOT be playing in my car for awhile.......errrrrr, not playing when the kiddos are with me. Gotta have a little Gaga.

This n that

We went to Madison this weekend to celebrate my nephews birthday. Happy birthday Linc!

Sophia went to kids church this morning and had a blast. I asked her what she learned and she said "I learned about Jesus and the presents he put inside our bodies". Not so sure she understood the message.

Suri didn't fully understand the time change and woke up at 6:30. What did I do, you ask? I made enough noise to wake my mom up so that she would keep me company. Hehe.

The birthday party was held at a gymnastics center and I learned something. I learned that after two babies you shouldn't be jumping on trampolines. You women know what I'm talking about. Yikes!

Josh and I saw Secretariat on Friday and it was excellent. Sassy, business minded, take no crap women always make good movies ie. Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side and Reese Witherspoon in Sweet Home Alabama. Love them....

Old........(Sophia-ism)

Sophia: "mommy, I don't want you to get old."

Me: "why not Sophs?".

Me thinking silently: "she is gonna say something sweet like...because you may die...or, because I love you, or even, because you may get sick......"

Instead, here is what I got:

Sophia: "because I need you to ride on the roller coasters at Disney with me and old people can't do that"

Not quite as sweet as I was hoping and my apologies to the "old people" for the stereotype. That's my Sophs.. Gotta love her.
