Happy New Year!

I cannot believe Christmas came and went so quickly. Sophia had a great first Christmas. We managed to celebrate Christmas with my side of the family (Indiana), with Josh's side of the family (Michigan), and at our house. Very busy, but very fun. Sophia loved being around all of the babies and kids.

Sophia has really started crawling now and is getting into everything. She seems to think that she is indestructible as she frequently pulls her doll house and baby piano over and on top of her. Sophia now has 2 teeth both on the bottom. Still no hair, but she has lots of hats...

We will be spending New Years Eve with my college roommates and their families. We are looking forward to some laughs. Until next time........

I love Santa

Our little miss Sophia got to meet Santa Claus last Friday and absolutely loved him. She was all smiles for her picture. The tree is up, the stockings are hung, the house is decorated, now all I need to do is wrap the mess of gifts that I have been hiding in the upstairs bedroom. I am almost ready for this whole Christmas thing to happen, but not quite. So much has been going on lately. I am in the middle of a job change, which is a good thing. I am going to be able to take almost a month off of work before starting my new job, so I will get some quality Sophie time. Josh just started his 8th grade girls' basketball season so he has been pretty busy as well. We are looking forward to our trip to Michigan for Sophie's first Christmas. Until next time......

Here comes Santa Claus..

We made it through Sophie's first Thanksgiving. We spent a few days in Madison with my side of the family. The break seemed to go by too quickly though..Sophie enjoyed some mashed potatoes, some sweet potatoes, and a little bit of a pumpkin roll. That little girl would eat anything though. We are trying hard to get all of our Christmas shopping done, and are looking forward to getting our decorations up this coming weekend. Until next time....

Rough couple of weeks

Well, I think we have finally beaten this strep throat that poor little Sophia and I had. She is back to her playful self and is sleeping a little bit better although still not through the night. I am happy to announce that Sophia has her first tooth!!Yeah!!! She has graduated with her foods and is now enjoying chicken sticks (they smell awful)and cheerios. She wants so badly to crawl, but honestly I don't think it is going to happen. I wake up every morning to a fuzzy head baby peering at me from between the bars of her crib. She has begun to pull up to her knees while she is in the crib which make me a little nervous. Until next time....

Happy Halloween

Halloween has come and gone and Miss Sophia lasted only 1/2 hour in her costume. She was a pig this year, which is fitting the way she has been eating lately. Sorry Sophie, I am just telling the truth. Sophia loved looking at all of the crazy kids come to the door in their costumes, but mostly she just liked being held. I truly believe she is getting a tooth now. Only time will tell. Until next time........

I love my flower

This past weekend our friends Lydia, Drew, and their baby boy JJ came to town for a visit. We had a great time. Lydia and I did some shopping and the guys, you guessed it, watched football. The babies played, ate, slept, and pooped. The weekend went by way too fast.

Sophia has a huge appetite right now. She polishes off jars and jars of baby food, and she just loves "wagon wheels", although they are very messy. She still isn't crawling, and to be completely honest I don't think she will. She gets so mad when we put her on her belly. She would much rather bounce in her jumperoo or walk with our help. Her hair has grown a little but still no teeth. She weighs right around 18 pounds. She is just so funny and her personality is really beginning to show. Sophia loves loves loves to play peekaboo with Josh and I. Until next time........

My Lil' Pumpkin

Two weeks ago we took Sophia to her first pumpkin patch. We enjoyed a lovely day of sun, apples, pumpkins, cider, and fried cakes. Sophia especially liked the sugar from the fried apple cakes (just a taste). We didn't have her in the car for more than five minutes after that adventure and she had already fallen asleep.


Unfortunately this past weekend we all came down with the flu monster. Sophia, Josh, and I were all out of commission. Thank goodness for my momma because if she wouldn't have come up to help, I am not sure what we would have done. Now however, we are all starting to feel much better. We are looking forward to the upcoming halloween and seeing Sophia in her pig costume. Until next time........

If you're happy and you know it

Can you believe it is October already? I most certainly can't. I am still in shock that Sophia is 7 months old already.. Boy does time really fly by... She has been so funny lately. She is wanting so badly to crawl. She loves to clap when someone sings "If you're happy and you know it". Tomorrow, weather permitting, we are planning a trip to the apple/pumpkin orchard. I am sure we will have some cute pictures.
As for Josh and I, nothing new really going on. I started working 4 ten hour days a week and Josh just finished up his 8th grade football season undefeated. We are excited about Sophia's first Halloween, although we will most likely just show her and her pig costume off from the comfort of our front porch.

A Full Weekend

This past weekend we drove down to Madison, IN to visit our new nephew Landon. As you can see in the picture he is so small. It is hard to believe that Sophia was ever that little. Landon spent most of his time sleeping, but Sophia did some rolling, some rasberries, and some football watching (I got to go shopping on Sunday so Sophie spent the day with her dad). Sophia is now trying very hard to clap her hands and she has started holding the bottle by herself (sort of). She still loves her jumperoo and I anticipate her crawling anyday. She still doesn't have teeth or hair. I had to have a little talk with her prior to seeing Landon so she wouldn't be jealous of all of his hair. Until next time........

New Addition- and it is not my flower!!

We happily welcomed a new addition to our extended family today. Sir Landon Allen True was born this afternoon after what his mother, I am sure, would say was the longest pregnancy in history! Landon was born weighing in at approximately 8lbs and was 21 inches long. He is the first boy born to my side of the family. He is now resting quietly in his mothers room sucking on a pacifier.

This past weekend Sophia and I drove to Madison for a visit and did a little shopping in the boutiques downtown. That is where we found her flower band. Oh but don't worry about her getting a cold head in the winter because we got her a white hat with a big flower as well. The visit went great. I think Sophia is getting a lot more comfortable around other people besides Josh and I. Sophia is now sitting up by herself for the most part with the occassional topple. She now loves loves loves what are called "Biter Biscuits". I think they are just messy. No teeth yet, but lots of drool.

Go Tigers!!

Poor Sophia doesn't stand a chance of becoming a cheerleader or a dancer or a princess. With her dad and uncles so obsessed with sports (real and fantasy) she will have only the options of basketball, volleyball, softball, and anything else that may involve dirt or injuries. I can't lie, that isn't all that bad because I myself am not the cheerleader type. This weekend we traveled to Michigan to visit Josh's family and went to the Tigers game. Sophia didn't go but as you can see Josh made sure to pick her up a souvenier.

Sophia has come a long way since her drive to Hilton Head, SC. That might have been the longest 10 hours of my life. Luckily the trip to Michigan this weekend was a lot better. She slept nearly the whole way and didn't really fuss at all. Now I am hoping that she will sleep for the entire night (because it is my night). Highly unlikely, but I love her the same. Feeding Sophia

As you can tell, our sweet little Sophia is in noway malnourished. This little girl loves to eat. She loves her cereal, bananas, pears, applesauce, and prunes. We recently introduced her to squash and she isn't crazy about it yet. So far she is a good eater!

Summer is almost over

The end of August is nearing. Josh has started back to school. And, the weather seems to be cooling off a little bit. It seems as though this year has just flown by. So many things have happened. Early January did not began according to plan. One and a half weeks were spent in the hospital. Josh was busy with school and coaching. Pamela spent an unexpected 2 months living in Indianapolis. February was better as our sweet Sophie was born on the 20th. Kami also found out that she was pregnant in February. March and April were exciting and scary with having a new baby around. I had to return to work at the end of April so we were fortunate to have Grandma Holt and Karen to help with Sophia. Josh finished school at the end of May and he took over baby duty, yes he was Mr. Mom. We took Sophie to the zoo on July 4th. On the 15th of July we traveled to Hilton Head, SC with Kami, Mark, and Gracie (and a caravan of 3 other vehichles). And that brings us to August. Sophia started with her babysitter and Josh returned for classes.

Sophia's first six months

Everyone tells you how your life will change once you have children. They are right. Miss Sophia was born on February 20, 2006 after a long two months of bedrest. She weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces and was 19" long. I was fortunate enough to have 8 weeks off for maternity leave to enjoy my new baby. Thinking back now, I am not sure exactly how I got through those first couple of months. I just remember being so very tired. Sophia slept most of the time but it seemed as though everytime I would lay down to rest she would wake up hungry. I was so nervous because I didn't feel like I knew what I was doing. It took nearly three weeks for me to feel comfortable enough to take her for a car ride. As she got a little older and a few pounds heavier things began to get easier. I would load her into her front carrier and we would walk for miles. Most of the time she would sleep, but sometimes we would stop and look at flowers or I would tell her stories about her crazy family she was born into. I knew she didn't understand what I was saying but just in case she did I would keep talking. It was the hardest thing I ever did going back to work. I knew that Josh would take good care of her but I am selfish and I wanted to be around her all of the time. I took a dozen pictures into work and put them up by my desk. Then, and even now, I find myself just staring at them and wishing I could go home and give her big hugs and kisses. Sophia is six months old now and time has flown by. We have had our first vacation together as a family, we have gone to the zoo, and we have started her with a babysitter. I never thought my life would have changed so dramatically. Now, I wake up every morning to rasberry blowing and a dirty diaper. My house is cluttered with baby einstein toys. My dog cleans up spilled cereal from the floor. And my husband and I have conversations about Sophia's poopy. However, I love all of the changes. My baby has brought a tremendous amount of joy to our lives. I love walking around the crib in the morning and seeing a smiley baby. I love seeing a naked baby butt right before bath time. I love how Sophia opens her mouth for cereal before I even have the spoon ready. I love how her face turns bright red when she is doing number two. I love how proud my husband is when he carries her around the mall. I love every change that has happened. Until next time............
