Biking

Yesterday was beautiful outside so Josh and I thought we should get the girls on their bikes and take a stroll around the neighborhood. When we went out to the garage we found 3 bikes and 1 carriage with nothing but super flat tires. I thought "what in the world? how could they be this flat?" Then, I remembered.... It hadn't been only 1 year since we used them, it had been two. 2009 was pretty much a blur. I had forgotten that I didn't do anything but watch bad reality tv for four months. Anyhow, thanks to a good neighbor, we pumped all 8 tires up and were good to go. Suri loved her first bike outing.

Saturday Fun

Sophs and I had so much fun today. Just the big girls. We went to the park, went to a store (where Sophs picked out some water gear), out for lunch, and then out for ice cream. I was sitting across from her at lunch and she said "Mommy, today was such a fun day". Sweet girl.

Trophy

Before softball season ever started Sophia was asking if she would get a trophy, a trophy like daddy's. Yesterday evening her softball coach hosted a seasons end pool party and Sophia was so excited. She was even more excited when her coach handed her a trophy. It was so fun to see her face and actually feel her excitement. She was so proud of herself.

O'Bros

Yep, O'Bros...That is what I said, or rather that is what Sophia said today when I asked her why she wore her bathing suit top to school under her t-shirt. She said "look mommy, I wore my O'bros just like you". I finally caught on. She is calling bras "O'bros". Only the first part of this multi-part issue. Okay, O'bros....I can go with that. I then ask "why are YOU wearing O'bros ?" She, the little stink, looked at me like I was just about the craziest and most ignorant lady ever, put her little hand on her hip and said "MOMMY, I don't want my boobies to show!"..... So, guess who got to have a bra/boobie/age discussion with their 4 year old tonight........THIS GIRL (insert picture of me pointing at myself).....

Until next time........

ps. Josh, you get the next uncomfortable topic.....

Happy Father's Day

How tall is your dad?
Sophia: 9 feet tall

What color are his hair and eyes?
Sophia: Brown hair and brown eyes

What does your dad like to cook?
Sophia: He likes to cook ravioli

What is your dads favorite household chore?
Sophia: He takes out the trash

What is your dad's favorite tv show?
Sophia: He watches basketball

Summer Fun

There is nothing more fun than slip-n-slide, pools, hanging out with your cousins, bbq, and catching fire-flies. Sweet American summers. Until next time...

Lucky

I am so lucky because I get to see these smiles everyday! Suri had her well-baby check-up today and stats were as follows:

Height 29 inches; 90th percentile

Weight 20.8 lbs; 90th percentile

Head 95th percentile

Suri is pulling up and even taking a few steps while holding. She loves her finger foods of peas, carrots, and greenbeans. She is crawling all over the house which keeps Josh and I very busy. Our next upgrade will be trying a sippy cup. Sounds messy. Until next time....

You know you are Old when........

-you strain your knee walking around in heels

-a few hours out with friends requires a whole day of recovery time

-the best gift you could ever be given is a weeks worth of cooked dinners or a cleaning service

-7 o'clock doesn't seem like such an unreasonable bed time

-you actually look forward to a completely uneventful and boring week

-you look forward to listening to audio books when you are driving (seriously best invention ever and the only things keeping me from ripping my hair out on my long commute- btw, mommy friends must read or listen to book "Little Earthquakes" by Jennifer Weiner)

That's all I've got for now.
Until next time....

Basketball Camp Part II

Sophia made it through her whole basketball camp and totally loved it. Her favorite part was "dribbling". Josh said she was so funny playing defense though. She couldn't grasp the concept of defending just her person so she would stand in the defensive position and kind of wonder. Josh snapped some pictures so I just wanted to share.

Basketball Camp

This week Sophia has been going to school and Josh picks her up for 1 hour in the afternoon for basketball camp. They don't have a 4 year old age group so Sophs has been playing with 5-7 year olds (Josh is one of the coaches so it is no biggie). She has been having such a ball and has been holding her own as the youngest. Today, Coach S. was discussing a drill that the girls were going to do that required them to dribble really low to the ground or "kill" their dribble. As Coach S. was telling them that they would "kill" their dribble Sophia just piped up in front of all of the players, coaches, and campers and said "Coach S. we don't say that word". He promptly changed his terminology from "kill dribble" to "low dribble". I am so glad I wasn't there. But, to Sophia's defense, "kill" is such an ugly word......

I can already see my future when Sophs is in elementary school: "Mrs. Sophia's mom. Hi this is Miss fist grade teacher. Sophia has had grumpy hands and wooped up on Fred. Then she told me that I should't use a mean voice or she would work me over too." I can already see it. Lord have mercy on those poor unsuspecting teachers. She looks sweet and innocent but she is full of it.

Until next time.....

Marrying Daddy

When I run out of material I can always count on Sophs to get the ball rollin'.

I literally laughed out loud at this one and had to call Josh immediately.

Place: In the "family car" with Sophs in the back seat driving to Target for our weekly mommy-Sophia grocery shopping trip.

Sophia: "Mommy, how old are you?"

Me: "Sophs I am twenty nine."

Sophia: "When I am twenty nine I am going to marry daddy."

Me: "Daddy will be like fifty then."

Sophia: "Yeah, and he will have to walk with one of those things that he pushes."

Me: "He sure will Sophs...Old man!"

I had no clue where she may have heard or seen someone use a walker. Josh knew right away. "Up"..... Only the cutest children's movie ever made. Sophia is a sponge. I guess I better make sure she doesn't catch me watching any of my guilty pleasures such as Jersey Shore, Real Housewives of wherever, Greys Anatomy, Private Practice...... Who knows what she would come up with if she ever sees those ......

Until next time....

Deleted

So, I deleted my Marmaduke post because it was.......LAME!.....and it was annoying for me to look at and read every time I logged on to my blog. I apologize to any readers who may have suffered through those few sentences. I'm lacking wit and wisdom.

Until next time.....

More Sophia-isms

Tonight, while I was innocently getting dressed after taking a bath, Sophia had the most philosophical thought (because all moms know that there is NO privacy once you have kids so get used to dressing with an audience). She said "Mommy, you don't have a belly anymore because Suri was borned, but it looks like you have two babies in your bunzies (that's what we call booty)". So, apparently this whole weight loss deal has left a few pounds on my rear. So kind of Sophia to enlighten me. Thanks hun!

Until next time...
