Christmas Eve

We are ready. Sophia woke up this morning just in time to see the news woman announce that Santa was in Russia. Sophs told me that in Russia they call him chimney Nick. Yep, this child just makes stuff up. Well, we have cookies to make so I better cut this short. Merry Christmas Eve!

First French Braid

Suri actually let me comb her hair today. Not only that, she sat still long enough for me to put a French braid in it.

Family Christmas

Yesterday we went to the Schanding family Christmas at my aunts house in Columbus. It turned out to be such a great day. The girls got to play with all of their cousins and I cleaned up on our pirate gift game.

Sophia went to a friend's birthday party today. It was a karate themed party. She loved every minute of it. She has been waiting for 5 years to bust out her mulan moves. Here is a short video.

Jingle John

Suri's school hosted Jingle John tonight. He brought in a dove, a reindeer, cockroaches (gross), a rabbit, a turtle, and a bullfrog. I told Suri to pet the bullfrog and she straight punched it. Yeh, I don't know what to say about that.

Until next time.

Christmas Tree

I was looking forward to this weekend all week. For one my mom and Dale were coming up to spend some time with the girls and shop and we were going to go watch Josh's team play. Josh and i were also going to decorate for Christmas. But.........things didn't go quite as planned. I woke up at 3 am on Friday as sick as a dog. I don't even remember driving Sophs to school. Luckily my mom and Dale still came up and went to see Sophia at school and then took Suri shopping all day. I slept all day. Today I am feeling a little more human, but not quite myself. We did manage to get out and buy a Christmas Tree.

Happy Thanksgiving

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. We are spending the day at home. I had very good intentions of cooking an elaborate feast but then I thought well, maybe I will just order our turkey already cooked. But then I started thinking, I don't really want to peel potatoes, so I ordered potatoes too. Then, I started getting overwhelmed with the idea of cooking anything and I just ordered everything. I did. I really did order our whole Thanksgiving dinner. Who is laughing now though? While everyone is slaving away in the kitchen I am sitting on my bunzies watching Alladin with the girls.

Santa warning

As expected Sophia occasionally gets in trouble at school for, you guessed it, TALKING!! I've begun threatening extreme measures. So extreme that the threat itself guarantees immediate tears. No lie. Immediate! It's amazing really. All I have to say is "I will call Santa if that is what it is gonna take". So maybe november 14 is a little early to threaten a Santa call. I'm not proud.

Sophiaism

I love this child. She is truly mine. Here is her conversation with Josh when they were just walking out the door:

Sophia: "hey daddy, do you remember the time you said that true gentlemen open the door for ladies?"

Josh: "yes"

Sophia: "oh really, then why didn't you?"

Called him out. I love it.

Epcot

Day 4 Disney- Epcot

We spent our last day in Orlando at Epcot. This is my favorite park. Upon park opening we went straight to Soarin' . This simulated flying ride is just amazing. That is all I can say. An experience for yourself type of thing. We hit up test track next which is always fun. We sort of took a break miday. We let the kiddos play in the splash park for 45 minutes while the grownups just sat and relaxed. We had packed extra clothes knowing we were going to do this. We toured the world showcase and the kisd got stamps in each country. Dinner was at the Germany pavilion. The kids danced like crazy.

Whew! What a trip. Fast and furious. We had such a fantastic time. I hope after a week that my mom, Dale, kami, and mark have fully recovered.

Hey guys, let's do it again next month.

Until next time.

Hollywood Studios

Day 3 Disney- Hollywood Studios

We woke up early once again because....well, as experienced Disney goers know, you are foolish not to. Anywho. I warned the crew that we would be making a mad dash so all children should be locked and loaded in their strollers and there would be NO potty breaks upon entering the park. So we ran right to the toy story mania ride. No wait! The kids loved it. By the time we got off of the ride the wait time was 45 minutes. After toy story it was tower of terror time. Landon was the trooper on this one. Sophs of course loved this ride. It is her favorite! The big surprise of the day was Gracie doing the Aerosmith roller coaster (upside down). For dinner we ate at animal kingdom lodge Boma. The food was great but getting there was a pain in the bunzies. Sophia and Josh had a date in downtown Disney late in the night and Suri and I went to bed.

Animal Kingdom

Day 2 Disney

On our second day at Disney we once again got an early start. We were at the bus stop around 7 to catch the first bus to EPCOT. But, the trip planner, me, screwed up. I mixed up which park was opening early. It was an easy fix though. We just hopped on the Animal Kingdom bus. We, of course, headed straight for the safari. All of the animals were out feeding. It was fantastic. After that we went over to Everest. Sophia had a special ticket for the whole group to get to the front of the line. One of the cast members gave it to her on our last trip when she was crying about being too small to ride. Yeah for us! For dinner we went over to Fort Wilderness Hoop Dee Doo Review. This is by far the most awesome dinner show in Disney World. The kids had a ball.

Magic kingdom

Day 1 of our Disney trip

We woke up early on Thursday. When I say early I mean up at 6 am and at the bus stop at 7. In line for park opening by 7:30. Our plan was to kind of warm the kiddos up to the rides and start out easy. That plan went to crap when we found out a good portion of the park wouldn't open for another hour. So, we did space mountain. Most of the kiddos liked it. Sophs cried but said she would go on again the next time we come. We then hit up nearly all of the other rides, ate lunch, then returned to our hotel for a little rest. Dinner reservations were at o'hana at the polynesian resort. Dinner was amazing. We had chicken, steak, shrimp, dumplings, salad, pineapple bread, and a wonderful bread pudding. After dinner we took the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom for the Not So Scary Halloween Party. We dressed as a basketball team, cheerleaders, a referee, and a coach. The Halloween parade was awesome. We also got to trick or treat around the park and let me tell you, the cast was not stingy with the candy. We were out until 11:30.

Disney vacation

Wowzers! We have had a heck of a 5 days. We flew down to Orlando last Wednesday to meet up with my mom, Dale, my sister, and her family and give them the whirlwind Disney experience. And by golly we did it. We went to all 4 parks, road every ride we wanted to, squeezed in some swimming, and basically ate everything within arms reach. I will give more details about the vacation in later posts but at this time I think I captured how all of us feel in this picture of Suri .

School lunch

Last Friday Boo and Papi were in town to watch the girls while we were in Chicago. Since we weren't leaving until mid afternoon I thought that this was the perfect time to go and eat lunch with Sophia at school. So while Boo and Papi chased Sur Surs around I got to experience school lunch all over again. I'm no fool, I knew that Friday meant pizza day so I told sophs "you know we are totally getting the plate lunch" at which time she told me "mommy, we call it hot lunch now". My bad. Through the line we went, grabbing a milk carton that was semi chilled, then the pizza, then...oh wait," no Sophs you forgot the cookie". "we aren't going to get a cookie today mommy". Arghh..crazy girl. We had a fabulous date. We talked and chit chatted about the kids in her class, which ones were her friends, which ones were trouble makers, etc. She was so excited I was there. Besides skipping on the cookie I definitely want to do this again.

Until next time.

Urbanathlon-Chicago 2011

In early summer, Josh had this idea to sign us up for the Chicago Urbanathlon. This is a ten mile race with military obstacles mixed in (and stadium steps). So, I took on the challenge of training for this race. I did the running, the weight lifting, and the boot camp style classes. I'm not, by nature, a good runner. I fall into the category of slow. So, I knew that ten miles was going to kill me. But, I made it through. Chicago was gorgeous and the weather was perfect. It took me two full days to recover and I still have bruises surfacing, but it was definitely an accomplishment. I'm not ready just yet to discuss the possibility of doing this next year. Only time will tell if I'm crazy enough to repeat it.

Pumpkin patch

After Sophia's soccer game today we headed to Apple Works, our local pumpkin/apple farm. The girls had so much fun. They both rode ponies and picked out their own pumpkins. I helped them sneak in an apple cider donut, which was delish! We fed some animals, did a little dancing, and climbed a hay stack mountain. Now, I'm spent.

Thursday, October 06, 2011

It's been a whole week since I've posted, but I have a good reason. It has taken me this long to get over my crazy mad that occurred last Friday morning. I am finally able to talk about it without cursing. I hope. So, Josh went out of town early Friday morning for some nerd herd coach clinic at Michigan State. I was home with the girls but we had to get up and moving a little early to get Sophs off to school for a field trip. I loaded the girls in the car and sat down in the driver's seat, turned he key........and..........NOTHING!!! Sophs immediately starts crying because she thinks she is going to miss her field trip. And I'm thinking "okay, I can't be the sucky mom, what should I do"...... Unfortunately for us we do not have any family that live closer than 2 hours away so I was stuck. I unbuckled Suri and grabbed Sophs by the hand and we walked over to our neighbors house (stay at home mom). I have never spoken to this gal, but I knew that Josh had her daughter in class a few years back. I knocked on her door, and she answered. I asked this stranger if she would give us, all three of us, carseats and all, a ride to drop Sophs off at school. She said yes, thank goodness..... I can only imagine what kind of crazy she thinks I am now. 1600 dollars later, the car is good. I think I can squeeze another year out of it. I owe our neighbor big time.......

Until next time
