Suri Update

Today,my baby girl pulled herself up to standing. Just the other day (literally) she began crawling and already she is pulling herself up. Suri still loves to eat and really enjoys the maple syrup cinnamon flavored puffed snacks. Suri is sleeping in her own crib and I would say sleeps through the night 40% of the time (her average went down after last nights performance). Suri enjoys going on walks and really loves playing in her baby pool. She prefers playing with my rubber cooking utensils verses playing with her toys. She thinks Sophia is a mix between Superwoman/Jesus/and Punky Brewster and laughs hysterically at her daily. Suri has the greatest belly laugh EVER! Although we haven't been to the doctor lately for an accurate measurement or weight, I am pretty sure she is "up there" on the growth chart. She is still a big girl. She has more hair than Sophs ever did. Surs has found her voice and much to my dismay has started saying dadadadada.... BOOOOOOOO! Hey Surs, pretty sure I carried you for nine months and birthed you without pain medication and this is how you thank me? You are lucky you are so stinkin' cute.

Goal achieved!

Guess who earned their DS....................This girl!

Chores

Lately, Sophia has been asking to help with some chores around the house. Crazy, right? She will learn to hate them in due time, I am sure. Anyhow, she was helping me with dishes the other night. She had her cute little apron on and was standing on a chair when this conversation took place.

Me: "Thanks for helping me Sophs"

Sophia: "You are welcome mommy. I feel like Cinderella. Scrub the dishes, do laundry, cinderellie."

She is so funny.

Crawling

Pool time

We opened up our Memorial Weekend with a little cookout with some friends and their kiddos. We broke down and bought a grill (which we have o take back because the igniter button stinks), bought two pools (one for sophs and one for surs), and loaded up on snacks and drinks. Suri sat in her little pool for nearly and hour and a half and I think Sophia would have played all day had we let her. Until next time.....

Hello Sunshine!

Today was.......HOT...VERY HOT! So hot in fact that we had to break out the yard sprinkler to cool things off. Sophia and Josh played tag and Sophs managed to spray poor Suri down when she was "watering the plants". It reached 90 degrees in Indy today which is crazy being that it is still May. That is okay, I will take sunshine whichever way it comes.

Until next time....

Our Garden

For Mother's Day Josh and the girls got me a 4 x 4 garden to put in the back yard. We finally got around to putting it together and planting some veggies. Sophia was my big helper and enjoyed getting dirty. Lets just hope we don't kill these plants any time soon. My track record with flowers is not good.

Legacy Award

Tonight was a special night for Josh. He was awarded with the "Legacy Award". This award is given by the senior students to those teachers that have impacted their lives in a positive way. This years seniors are the first group of students that Josh had when he was hired on at his school (fresh out of college). So, cheers to you Josh. May you receive many more Legacy Awards in your years to come. Until next time..... PS. Apologies for the choppy film. I was attempting to pacify Suri, keep Sophs from spilling her drink, and film all at the same time. MULTITASKING!

Take me out to the ballgame

We headed to Michigan this weekend and took Sophia to her first major league baseball game. Suri stayed with Aunt Celeste who, by the way, spoils her nephew WAY too much (She made lemon meringue pie just as Josh had requested). Back to the game. We woke up at a reasonable time on Sunday and headed to downtown Detroit. We walked around the ballpark and made a few Tiger gear purchases, rode the carousel, got Sophs face painted, and picked up some snacks. Sophia love the snacks and the 7th inning stretch the best. Suri had a great time playing with boo and Papi and stealing Brod-dog's toys. I apologize in advance for the abundance of pictures and videos. I just couldn't choose. Until next time.....

Water baby

Suri Jean loves her baths. If she gets grumpy, though very rarely does this happen, all I have to do is strip her down and head for the bath. She loves to splash, lay on her belly and kick her legs, and chew on her wash cloth. Until next time....

Rainy Day Sophia-ism

This girl never stops. Here is our rainy day sophia-ism.

Sophia: "Daddy it is raining."

Josh: "Yep, it sure is Sophs."

Sophia: "Then why aren't your wooshers wooshing?"

Until next time......

Happy Mother's Day

As a child you do not realize the sacrifices that your mothers have made for you. Shuttling you from place to place, working their tail off to make sure you have everything you need, rushing home from work to make it to ball games, being the "bad guy" now and then to make sure that you make the right choices in your life....the list could go on.

To our moms. Thank you for all that you have done for us. Thank you for supporting us as children, adolescents, young adults, and now as parents. Thank you for being an example to us and for teaching us to enjoy every part of our life with our family. Thank you for reminding us that "we only get one chance at this". Thank you Pamela and Boo for being you. For being compassionate, funny, serious, and silly. Thank you for being wonderful grandmothers to our girls. To the best mothers around. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Until next time....

Sophia-isms

Sophia: "Daddy, can you turn on Jon and Terry?"

Josh: "Who?"

Sophia: "Jon and Terry"

Josh: "Do you mean Tom and Jerry?"

Sophia: "yes, Jon and Terry!"

Sophia-ism NUMBER 2

The other day I was sitting in the family room just minding my own business and enjoying my diet coke. Miss Sophia comes in lecturing me saying "we don't drink diet coke mommy. It doesn't make you grow." Next thing I know, this crazy child (crazy because any sane person would know to never ever touch my diet coke) picked up my diet coke, took it to the kitchen and poured it down the sink. What in the world! We had to have a talk after that.

Children's Museum

As mentioned in a previous post, we had many things planned for Friday. And, we accomplished them all. Yeah! We had a great time at The Indianapolis Children's Museum. Such a neat place with lots of things for kiddos to explore. Sophia loved the barbie exhibit and we even got a chance to make our own barbie dresses.

Sophs and softball

Sophia had her second softball game tonight and boy was it .........entertaining. These little girls had so much fun. Their cheers were a lot louder, their hitting was 80% better, and their seed spitting was incredible... Mama Pam an Papa Dale made the game today and Sophs was stoked. After the game we went to get "hot chicken" (Wings) and Sophia made us do "cheers" with our glasses twice. The first was for her softball game and the second was for her becoming a princess. You have to understand that with Sophia, you just have to place yourself in her world. You've got to "go with her". We have a fun Friday planned with me getting a new hair-do, picking Sophia up from school early, heading to PF changs, then to the Children's Museum, then we are meeting up with her softball team to cheer on the varsity team, and lastly but most importantly SLUMBER PARTY!!!!! BTW, Friday Night Lights starts tomorrow for any other die hard fans.. Until next time......

Daddy's dressing

This is what Suri went to the baby sitter in this morning. No, it isn't a dress with a large neck hole, it is one of Sophie's shirts. This is why I should always always always lay the girl's clothes out. Lost points here Josh. Poor child looks like an orphan.

Survival

I made it back from my weekend in Cincy. I tell you what, there is no way I could go back to sitting in classrooms all day again. It was torture. It was a great course, but I have got to be movin'.

Josh survived his first weekend flying solo at home with the girls. Matter of fact, he more than survived. Both girls were smiling when I go home, they were fairly clean, both had full tummies, and the house was even straightened up. Kudos to Josh. He even took the girls on an outing with his coaching buddies.

This week looks like it is going to be a busy one. More softball games, squeeze in a few workouts, plan to have a friend over for dinner one night, and of course work work work.
