Mommy's Girl

Sophia's 1st Limo ride

Today, Sophia was invited to a friend's birthday party. The girls were picked up by a limo and taken to a cute little shop where they played dress up, danced, manicures, make-up, and cupcakes. She had a great time and really felt like "big stuff". Four years old and already in a limo...................

Until next time....

Indiana Fever

Last night we packed the girls up and headed downtown to eat dinner and catch a Fever game. Sophia of course loved it because of the snacks and because some of Josh's players were there. Suri loved when the lights went out and the players were introduced. She also loved the lemon-lime shaved ice that she and I shared.

Until next time....

Big girl (both of them)

Both of my girlies are growing up so fast. Sophia has started practicing without her training wheels. I actually looked at her today and thought she looked like a "kid", no longer my wispy blonde baby.

Suri is getting another tooth and is soooo close to walking. She is eating real food and loves to copy what we do. She loves music and wiggles her bobble head whenever she hears a tune she likes.

Until next time....

More sophia-isms

I really try to engage Sophia in conversation while we aredriving in the car. I love finding our what she thinks about, what she likes, what she dislikes, what scares her, what makes her sad, etc. And.......she is belted in so she can't prance off (which she does constantly, just ask mama Pam about the prancing). Anyhow, today we were driving home from one of Sophia's classmate's birthday party and the following conversation took place. Reminder, this is a 4 year old.

Me: "Hey Sophs, look at that guy over there walking. He doesn't have a shirt on." (Old guy, mildy overweight, grey chest hair, sweat band) It was all I could do to refrain from pointing out those things.

Sophs: "Why doesn't he have a shirt on? Maybe he is hot or something."

Me: : "Sophs, if I am hot when I am outside is it okay to take my shirt off?"

Sophs: "Sure, but you need to leave your O'Bros on".

I tell ya people, she is a thinker, not a stinker.

Until next time......

Vacation Snipits

-Suri broke a glass against another glass in the hotel room (Mother of the Year) -Sophia and I rode on a sailboat with Uncle Don and it was awesome -My pool volleyball team got whooped on multiple times -A box fan is critical when you are in a house full of kiddos -Suri could pass as a boy at times, but put her in a pink ruffled princess bathing suit and she looks like a baby doll -We took the kids to a local bouncer place while on vacation and I totally played on all of the equipment too -If you visit Hilton Head check out The Sandbox. It is a very cute playplace for youngsters and a nice break from the heat of the afternoon. -We took Sophs to see Despicable Me while mama Pam and papa Dale watched surs. i must say that it ranks right up there with "Up". -Kami and I rented bikes with the tag-a long kids bike. Sophia loved it and really got the hang of it by the end of the week. Okay, that's enough of my rambling. BTW....I'm glad tomorrow is Friday. Until next time.......

Hilton Head, SC

Now that I have successfully recovered from our drive back from Hilton Head and I have figured out how to load pics on my hubby's computer I can give you a run down of our vacation.

We stopped in Ashville, NC on our way down. The major catastrophe on this leg of the trip was that Josh, yes Josh, forgot to put the stroller back in the car. So, we bought our 4th stroller. Awesome, everyone needs four strollers, right? We checked out the town, did a little shopping, and went swimming.

We stayed in a fabulous beach house in Hilton Head. This house was right on the beach and had a private pool. Just perfect. The girls had so much fun playing in the ocean and running/crawling around with their cousins. Sophia's favorite part was swimming without her floaties. I was so proud of her. She swam at least 10 feet by herself. Sophia, and Suri for that matter, had NO fear of the ocean. Sophs even got rolled a few times. Tears happened but 1 minute later she was asking to go back out. Suri crawled all over the beach. She ate her share of sand and didn't seem to even mind.

The weather was amazing. The food was amazing. I don't dare step on a scale right now after the glutton fest that occurred there.

All and all a very fun vacation.

Until next time....

Knoxville, TN

We stopped just over half way on our trip back from Hilton Head, SC. That put us in Knoxville. I say we stopped because our girls are not good car riders, but truth is that I am not a good car rider. We toured around downtown, went to The University of Tennessee, and went to The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. We really had a great time and the girls were awesome. We frequently joke with Sophs about going to college and she says "I want to go to college mommy, but I want you to go with me." Do you think she will still be saying this when she is 18?

Sophia-ism of the day

Josh: "Hey Sophs, there is the building will go to if you want to be a lawyer."

Sophs: "A warrior? I want to be a warrior."

We didn't even correct her because it was just to cute. And so the Mulan obsession continues......

Ps. Lots of pics taken on vacation to be added later. Considering ipad v. laptop. Anyone....anyone?????

Until next time.....

Skunky

Sophia continues to crack us up with her comments. And, we sure weren't disappointed during our long drive down to Hilton Head.

Sophia-ism travel version:

Sophia: "mommy, what country are we in?" (She means "state", but whatever)

Me: "Sophs we are in Kentucky."

Sophia: "Tucky smells skunky."

Kentucky friends..... I apologize for the insult. It wasn't directed toward you, however it really did smell like skunk as soon as we crossed the Indiana/Kentucky border.

Ps. Still considering computers for purchase so no pictures yet. (I'm using my hubbies computer and I haven't figured out how to put pics on)

Swim lessons

Sophia had her first day of swimming lessons today and absolutely LOVED it. She has one-on-one instruction for 30-45 minutes which is exactly what this child needs. Josh said she had no fear and even jumped off of the diving board a few times. Josh also said that Sophia talked the poor instructors ear off (Josh just so happened to have her in class when she was in middle school).

You may be wondering why I don't have any pictures to post with Sophia at swimming. Truth is, and a sad sad truth it is, is that my computer is BROKEN! No lie. The screen just stopped working. No trauma (that I know of), just simply stopped working. Only a year old. I took it in to the geek squad and the guy told me I would be better off just buying a new one. I am not proud at all but I actually teared up in the store....in front of this guy. So, family and friends if you take any pictures of our family please email them to me so I can put them on the blog.

Until next time.....

Letter to my younger self

I spent many days thinking about what type of post I wanted to do to remember my thirtieth birthday. And then it came to me. What would I tell the 15 year old Molly. So, here goes. Listen up.

-Be more confident
-Enjoy your friendships, there will be plenty of time for boyfriends in the future
-Yes, you should wear that bikini (trust me, your body will never look like that again so enjoy it)
-Spend more time with your family because you never know what life may bring
-Your parents are pretty awesome despite the frequent need to embarrass you
-Dance, laugh, and be silly
-Appreciate all of the wonderful places you get to go
-Pay attention in class (Quit drawing pictures)
-Tell your coaches how great they are and how much you appreciate them (Thank you Coach G., Coach K., and Coach M.)
-Be giving, be forgiving
-Despite what you think, the world does NOT revolve around you
-Appreciate the time your parents devote to you
-Life is good. It does get more difficult, but it gets more wonderful as well.

Life is good at 30.

Until next time.......

Biking

Yesterday was beautiful outside so Josh and I thought we should get the girls on their bikes and take a stroll around the neighborhood. When we went out to the garage we found 3 bikes and 1 carriage with nothing but super flat tires. I thought "what in the world? how could they be this flat?" Then, I remembered.... It hadn't been only 1 year since we used them, it had been two. 2009 was pretty much a blur. I had forgotten that I didn't do anything but watch bad reality tv for four months. Anyhow, thanks to a good neighbor, we pumped all 8 tires up and were good to go. Suri loved her first bike outing.

Saturday Fun

Sophs and I had so much fun today. Just the big girls. We went to the park, went to a store (where Sophs picked out some water gear), out for lunch, and then out for ice cream. I was sitting across from her at lunch and she said "Mommy, today was such a fun day". Sweet girl.

Until next time

Trophy

Before softball season ever started Sophia was asking if she would get a trophy, a trophy like daddy's. Yesterday evening her softball coach hosted a seasons end pool party and Sophia was so excited. She was even more excited when her coach handed her a trophy. It was so fun to see her face and actually feel her excitement. She was so proud of herself.

Until next time.......

O'Bros

Yep, O'Bros...That is what I said, or rather that is what Sophia said today when I asked her why she wore her bathing suit top to school under her t-shirt. She said "look mommy, I wore my O'bros just like you". I finally caught on. She is calling bras "O'bros". Only the first part of this multi-part issue. Okay, O'bros....I can go with that. I then ask "why are YOU wearing O'bros ?" She, the little stink, looked at me like I was just about the craziest and most ignorant lady ever, put her little hand on her hip and said "MOMMY, I don't want my boobies to show!"..... So, guess who got to have a bra/boobie/age discussion with their 4 year old tonight........THIS GIRL (insert picture of me pointing at myself).....

Until next time........

ps. Josh, you get the next uncomfortable topic.....

Lucky

I am so lucky because I get to see these smiles everyday! Suri had her well-baby check-up today and stats were as follows:

Height 29 inches; 90th percentile

Weight 20.8 lbs; 90th percentile

Head 95th percentile

Suri is pulling up and even taking a few steps while holding. She loves her finger foods of peas, carrots, and greenbeans. She is crawling all over the house which keeps Josh and I very busy. Our next upgrade will be trying a sippy cup. Sounds messy. Until next time....

You know you are Old when........

-you strain your knee walking around in heels

-a few hours out with friends requires a whole day of recovery time

-the best gift you could ever be given is a weeks worth of cooked dinners or a cleaning service

-7 o'clock doesn't seem like such an unreasonable bed time

-you actually look forward to a completely uneventful and boring week

-you look forward to listening to audio books when you are driving (seriously best invention ever and the only things keeping me from ripping my hair out on my long commute- btw, mommy friends must read or listen to book "Little Earthquakes" by Jennifer Weiner)

That's all I've got for now.
Until next time....
